Today was a good day

3-28-2009 10:00AM Today we had a Parent/Student meeting to discuss travel plans for our Mexico Mission Trip scheduled for April 10th-18th. We met at the hut and about 10 students and 5 parents showed up. Dave summarized the travel plan and alleviated any safety concerns we've been hearing through the media. We also chowed down on some donuts and drank some coffee. It was also a work day in that we went to Fortuna to do some yard work for Dave's elderly neighbor. His wife had been ill for quite some time and he was unable to keep up with the yard work. Berry bushes grew out of hand and all the students helped to cut them down as well as trim some trees. We piled all trimmings into Gene Godinho's trailer and went to Scotia to dump it in the green waste heep at the mill. We shook off the debri and headed to Eureka to have a bite to eat at Taco Bell and then to CyberCity to play Laser Tag. When we got there we were told we had a 30 minute wait before we could play because there were two birthday parties going on. When it was finally our turn we went into the first holding block were they explain how the game is played. Then all of a sudden the Cybercity employee realized that we were not suppose to go in because it was not our turn yet. He offered to give us an additional game if we wouldn't mind waiting another 15 minutes for the team that was suppose to play. We all agreed and out we went. When it was our turn we went in and played laser tag. Running and shooting and trying not to be shot. It was foggy and noisey and our chest plate kept talking to us all along. In the end, we were all checking our score cards and comparing them against one another. On the way home Pastor Dave treated us to ice cream at Fortuna's McDonalds before heading back to Hydesville Church. One Student said, "Today was a good day!"

Hey everyone back in HumCo. It is Saturday evening and we made it to Santa Paula safely. We got here around 6:30 pm. It's great to get out of the vans and have some elbow room. We had a delicious dinner of pizza and pizza. Michael and Luke are having a pizza eating contest. We will go to church at Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley tomorrow at 11:00 am and then it's off to Mexico. We will post again tomorrow night. Keep praying for us.

It's Monday AM and the sun is bright, it is actually burning away the clouds!!!
Well this is your first day of building homes. Watch out for Carlie, she has a wild swing with a hammer...I know all of you will be blessed as much as you are blessing the people you are building homes for. Have a great day, our prayers are with you.

Hello friends and family. We had a great time at Easter service at Cornerstone Community Church yesturday morning before heading off to Mexico. After a few stops we got here around 6 pm.

Today, we built our first two homes. No one got hurt and everyone worked really hard to get the job done. Hannah N. stepped into a sewer while on the job and had to come back to shower off. She has a good story to tell now and will look more carefully where she is stepping.

We are getting ready to go to the showers now and then out for dinner. The tacos are amazing. I had adobada last night and birria today at lunch. We love you and appreciate all your prayers and support.
